The Heyward House Historic Center located in Old Town Bluffton, SC is an old historic home. Today, a museum that offers families the ability to take a peek into life in the early 1800s. Families can take a guided tour of the home, and learn of its deep history, as well as, the deep history of Bluffton and the Lowcountry.
Another great option is The Coastal Discovery Museum. Located right over the Hilton Head Island Bridge. With a vast 70-acre property, it’s filled with live animals, exhibits, and much more. It’s guaranteed to keep your little ones busy and learning for hours!
A beautiful and walkable historic town that is filled with all the beauty that the Lowcountry has to offer. From the plants and flowers to the ancient Mossy Oak trees that dangle above your head. Old Town Bluffton is full of charming shops, galleries, and restaurants that families can explore at their own pace.
Families can sit at the mouth of the May River, have a picnic, or swing on the tree swings. Don’t forget about the beautiful southern homes that line the streets and the infamous historic Church of the Cross.
Several companies in Bluffton offer guided Dolphin tours. It’s a great way for families to gain experience with such docile creatures. The tours afford stunning views of the May River and the Lowcountry!

Mini golf is always a family favorite activity in my house. Families are guaranteed to love Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf and Legendary Golf! Both are located a short drive onto Hilton Head Island. Mini golf is a great option for families looking for a fun and affordable activity. Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf has an arcade with snack options and Legendary Golf is a 36-hole course that offers shade on a hot day!
Another fun family activity is renting bikes. Whether your child loves to bike themselves or catches a ride on your bicycle. Bluffton offers an array of incredible trails that your family can travel at their own pace. Families can also book guided bike tours and take in the Lowcountry landscape.
Lastly, a great rainy-day activity is to visit Ignite the Senses! A fun indoor gym for all children! They offer an open gym, camp, classes, and more! It’s also a great way for your family to take a break from the heat!
The Farmer’s Market of Bluffton, SC is such a great market! It’s filled with vendors that offer an array of handcrafted products. From local honey to freshly baked loaves of bread and homemade pasta. Local farm eggs, meat, and produce to homemade ice pops and lunch options. The Farmer’s market is every Thursday located at Martin Family Park in Old Town Bluffton.
