My favorite family sessions are the ones that celebrate families exactly as they are, embracing every season of life and the unique dynamic that comes with it.
This extended family session at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC, held just a few days after Christmas, was a beautiful reflection of that. At the family’s request, their children won’t be featured on social media, which makes this the perfect opportunity to highlight something just as meaningful: capturing your original crew, the ones who started it all.
This extended family session at Palmetto Bluff was a heartfelt tribute to legacy, connection, and the foundation of family.

Lori shared with me that this would be the first time since 2020 that her entire family, including her sweet grandbabies, would all be together for the holidays. Knowing how meaningful this reunion was, we approached their extended family session at Palmetto Bluff with intention.
I made sure we had plenty of time and space for genuine connection, allowing laughter, joy, and the kind of natural, unscripted moments that make an extended family session so special to unfold effortlessly.
We met at one of my favorite spots in Palmetto Bluff for a laid-back afternoon filled with laughter and easygoing fun. Some of my favorite moments were watching the eldest grandson proudly hold his grandfather’s hand as he led him along the path, and seeing him dash around with the biggest, most carefree smile. I also loved witnessing the sweet bond between the daughters and the joy they shared in simply being together. It’s always such a gift to observe the unique dynamics within each family, the subtle connections, the shared humor, and the love that looks a little different in every season.
After capturing the main family portraits and photographing each family with their kids and grandbabies, I took a few quiet moments with each couple. It’s always one of my favorite parts of an extended family session, slowing things down to focus on their sweet connection, genuine smiles, and the carefree spirit that started it all.
